Colts

Okay, I know this area is completely under developed. It's here waiting for some young person who has an interest in website development and who wants to really go beserk with it. I'm probably thinking of a cricketer who could do it for a school project.

Know you of such a person?

I have got some details regarding the current setup that you might be interested in knowing.

OUTDOOR PRACTICES

Coaching for the U15 colts and younger, will be on Friday evenings 6.15pm to 7.45pm. For the U17 yr-olds coaching will be on Tuesday evenings with the adults. With about 30 matches scheduled some will have to be played on Friday evenings so that some coaching will have to be sacrificed. Please arrive at least 5 minutes before the scheduled start of coaching and wear a white top, jogging bottoms and trainers (or something that can be easily washed!). Coaching will start in April and continue until about the end of the school term. Depending on the number of managers, coaches and colts available some cricket may continue into the summer holidays. If the weather looks threatening on Fridays ring your manager to avoid wasted journeys.

"WELFARE OF YOUNG PEOPLE IN CRICKET"

The club will endeavour to carry out the recommendations of the England and Bucks Cricket Boards in respect of "Welfare of Young People in Cricket".

CHARGES

The annual subscription remains at £30 this season.

KIT

Bats, pads, gloves and balls are supplied by the club for practice and matches. However because of the larger numbers of colts and matches this season we ask for donations of unwanted kit (ie not intended to be handed down to younger children). If boys bring their own kit to matches or practice make sure that it is clearly marked with their names. It is important that boys wear an abdominal protector when batting against a hard ball. These inexpensive items can be bought at sports shops.

SOCIAL MEMBERSHIP

Technically under club rules parents and other adults can use the facilities (including the bar) and attend events at Taplow only if they are signed in by a member. This situation can be avoided by becoming a social member - £10 for an individual or family. Please contact Iris Midlane (telephone: 01628 629455) for details.

EMAILING and WEBSITES

We are fortunate that nearly all the colts and parents are on the internet so that emailing is a convenient way for information to be sent out, particularly for items of general interest, or concerning cancellation or changes of matches. There are also an additional website of interest - www.buckscb.play-cricket.com. The Bucks CB website carries colts league details.

For any further information please contact the colts chairman: Nick Heaton
