First match Wooburn Narks I win the toss Sujith Perera 139 and Andy Mills 57 looks good declare on 261-5 only to lose in the last over. Next week have to rely on the batting of opener Mike Bradley 47 to give us a score along with Dale Barton 35 amass only 141 Harrow-on-the-Hill win. Draw the next couple of games Uxbridge Casuals and Widmer End on top in both games but could not bowl them out. First WIN of the season Skipper on holiday Sujith 78 Andy Mills 38 221-9 dec. Dave Thornley 4 wickets with young Harvey Draycott 3 wickets and Mike Bradley 2 wickets see Hurley all out for 52 runs. Dorchester next Tommo 93 and John Clark 32 put on 123 partnership with colt Craig Ainsley chipping in with 33 give Taplow a decent score but again unable to bowl a side out. The next five weeks lost to the rain and White Waltham. The might of Nomad Medics arrive at Ten Acres only to be put to the sword by Tom Lightfoot 112 n.o. At last a senior century ably supported by Dale Barton 49 put on 169 with Chris Paskins 51 also, 3 wickets for Keith Franklin and 2 apiece for Les Andrew and Sujith see Taplow win.
Harrowdene found the next Taplow player up for a ton this time seasoned Keith Franklin 103 n.o. (a club record as the most senior player to score a century). Wickets for Sujith 5 and Stuart Peters 2 reduce Harrow to 130-9 but hang on for the draw. Kenton turn up with a number of old friends some just to support, good to see them all again. The day belonged to young Dale Barton 104 runs his first senior century for the club (Dale this season has been part of four of the sides top partnerships not bad at the age of 15). Sujith 67 and Tommo 43 help us to 279. An unlikely wicket taker on the day 3 for Footlight but they hang on for the draw and a few drinks at the bar. Gerrards Cross are our only away game of the season can only muster 8 men ask Sujith to find me a player Gunasekara turns up along with Dale's dad Brian making his club debut. The Taplow ten win with Goonee on 99 n.o. at the end. Old Ashfordians restrict us to only 127 runs but wickets from Sujith 4 and two apiece for Harvey and Mike see us win by 33 runs. ICL. Stuart Peters opens up his shoulders and helped himself to an entertaining 93 runs (unlucky Stu) supported by Tommo 50 and cameo 30 n.o. by ever green Simon Christy to give us 225 at tea. 4 wickets for Chris Paskins but alas we lost.
Southside next Taplow lose early wickets but rallied with Les Andrew and Stuart at the crease put on 55 this was followed by Keith Franklin and 13 year old Alice Macleod coming in she and Keith make 30 runs together, with the arrival of Sujith the pair took apart the Southside bowling a hundred partnership coming up in no time another straight hit down the ground hits Alice on the hand at the other end forcing her to leave for treatment. On finding out she was just short of a fifty on the fall of the next wicket she bravely retuned to the crease and duly reached her goal her first senior 5O n.o. (Another club record the youngest to score 50 for the club, well done Alice). By the way, the match was drawn and the skipper got 2 wickets. Ivenhoe new side for us Chris Paskins top scores with 52 we reach 211 with Sujith taking 5 wickets and Les Andrew 3 wickets see us to another win. Last match of the season the clash of the PASKINS for Marlow Graeme and his son Nick for us Chris. Graeme and his son open for Marlow Graeme scores 109 but is undone by flight and guile of Mike Bradley and the swiftness of keeper John Clark (if you can believe that!) Taplow are set 269. Early wickets fall and our Paskins falls to his nephew, enter Stuart Peters 60 and (not to be out done by his sister) Tristan Macleod 55 put on an entertaining 129 runs to help us to finish with a draw.
I would like to thank a number of player for there support over the season, John Clark for doing sterling work behind the stumps with 10 stumpings, 8 catches plus runs. Dave Thornley, Mike Bradley, Stuart Peters, Les Andrew (Les reached 100 wickets for the club) all pitching in with wickets along with Andy Mills, Keith Franklin, Simon Christy with the bat.
